Lean production case in the automobile manufacturing industry: dozens of unmanned forklifts landed in a global leading automobile company

Automobile manufacturing is one of the world's largest and most important industries with the highest output value, along with the upgrading of consumption and the diversification of market demand, automobile manufacturers need higher efficiency and more flexible production methods to meet the market demand under fierce competition. In 2015, AGV entered the intelligent production and logistics market of the automobile and auto parts industry. Up to now, it has helped more than 50 automobile-related enterprises to transform their logistics projects, and its customers include leading enterprises such as Great Wall, BAIC, and FAW.

Customer needs

In order to further strengthen management and achieve competitiveness and sustainable growth, a large Japanese-funded automobile manufacturing enterprise hopes to improve the operation mode by relying on the introduction of flexible equipment, and improve the per capita productivity under the fluctuation of production volume through the separation of man-machine operation and continuous improvement of the process, so as to realize the "less manpower", "process" and "on-time" lean management. The project is implemented in the customer's East China production base, which mainly produces drive transmissions and other products, with a large number of raw material transfer and warehousing processes, and a variety of material types, carrier specifications and docking processes.

Difficulty  

1. Solve cross-vehicle interaction and safety problems in dynamic and complex scenarios?

There are many on-site operators and manual vehicles, and the available channel is generally only about 2.5m, and the unmanned forklift needs to cross with manual tractors and 4 brands of magnetic navigation AGVs on site.

2. Just-in-time logistics and balanced production

Many types of empty material pallets are transported from the machine unloading point, elevator connection point, production line connection port, three-dimensional warehouse, and picking area, but the delay and error of logistics operation are ultimately caused by insufficient human resources and inaccurate scheduling. The difficulty of mass introduction of unmanned forklifts in the auto parts industry lies in the connection between unmanned forklift scheduling and multiple equipment.

3. A variety of specifications of on-site vehicles

Including (iron box, screen frame, pallet), and need to be connected with multiple automatic door signals, the positioning accuracy is required to be ≤10mm when the unmanned forklift picks up/unloads the terminal body;

Solution

In the first phase of the project, AGV introduced nearly 30 "small lifter" V15F stacking unmanned forklifts, AGVS2.0 dispatching system, and AIDT digital twin management platform for customers to handle the material transfer from raw materials to the line and the warehousing of finished products, and realize digital management and operation and maintenance.

1. Transportation of raw materials

AGVS2.0 dispatching system is connected with the customer's main control PLC system to create a closed loop of information flow. After accepting the task, the V15F unmanned forklift goes to the unloading port (conveyor line) to take the material, carries the iron box (full) to the place where it is placed, takes the empty iron box, and transports the empty iron box to the upper loading port.

2. Group payment room workshop

The V15F unmanned forklift transports the pallets and net baskets at the delivery point of large objects to the receiving point at the side of the production line and returns to the empty carrier through manual PDA calling, and transports the car at the delivery point of small objects to the receiving point and returns to the empty car.

In order to solve the problem of collinear control (about 50m) in the driving line of unmanned forklifts with magnetic navigation traction, AGV adopts the principle of first-in, first-occupied to avoid the efficiency waste caused by collision or mutual interference between the two in the operation process, and ensure the maximum operation efficiency of each vehicle body.

2. Lean management "on-demand production", production efficiency increased by 35%.

The AIDT digital twin platform connects the customer's visual signal system, opens up the digital-driven production process to flexibly adjust the production plan and inventory level, and the implementation of the whole set of automation solutions achieves the goal of "on-demand production" and "zero inventory" of enterprise lean management, helping enterprises to accelerate the lean digital transformation.
